Electric vehicle charging is not always reliable, forcing federal and state governments, automakers, and charging providers to implement new solutions. The goal? Boost EV adoption.
Excellent article, Jim. Range anxiety and unavailability of working stations is extremely frustrating. I wonder, however, can't this problem be fixed by the free market itself? Most of the stations are owned and managed by private companies. If a company's stations are not functioning, then customers will go elsewhere (I know, easy to say, hard to do).
What do you think are the challenges to letting the market solve the problem itself?
You write that as at the time of this writing there is no penalty if companies are not compliant with their uptimes. Has this changed?
